When you request a print from us we manually run the digital image through Photoshop to make it look its best, then we download to our Shutterfly Gallery.
Order the Size You Say You'll Order
It is important that you order the size you ask for via e-mail. If you ask for a 5x7 and order an 8x10 you might be unpleasantly surprised by the cropping. If you change your mind on the print size, just e-mail us back and we'll be happy to recrop it. If you are ordering two different sizes and we know that the cropping will be setup to accommodate that. If you didn't specify and we didn't ask then the cropping is OK at any size.
The previews that the Shutterfly Gallery provide are for 4x6 prints ONLY and do not represent what will end up getting printed if you are ordering a different size (eg: 5x7 or 8x10). We're hoping Shutterfly will address that problem at some point but until then ignore the cropping of the previews you see in the Shutterfly Slideshow. We have control over what part of the image we consider important so you don't have to worry about a critical part of the image being cropped out.
Need For Cropping
See our example crop image that illustrates the need for cropping an image to fit a particular size print. The long side will get cropped in order for it to fit on the size print you order (eg. 8x10).
Here is an example. The first image is what would show up on our web site. This is the original image, uncropped. The next two images show what it would look like printed.
